Who is Sahasrabhuja Avalokiteshwara?
It is believed that Avalokiteshwara, a Tibetan god, has 108 avatars. One of the cosmic forms is Sahasrabhuja Avalokiteshwara. He is represented with 11 heads and a thousand hands.
Among 11 arms, eight arms of Sahasrabhuja Avalokitesvara have a more prominent position whereas the remaining arms are distributed on different sides to form a mandala. The distributed arms are sometimes marked with eyes. Similarly, the eleventh head at the top is the head of his parent Tathagata, Amitabha. His tenth head is terrifying and all other are composed.
